Aurora Energy Finalizes New Union-Backed Workplace Agreement

Australian power utility Aurora Energy has finalized a new union-backed workplace agreement with its employees for the next three years.

Voting on the new Aurora Energy agreement was completed, with 90% of employees who returned their ballots voting to approve the new agreement.

Ted Bradshaw, Aurora's general manager of people and culture, said: "It provides employees with a guaranteed 14% pay rise over the next three years as well as providing important benefits such as 15 weeks paid maternity leave, one week paid paternity leave, and 10 days carer's leave. All of these benefits will apply retrospectively to May 1, 2008, when the previous agreement expired.

"Now that our people have approved the agreement, Aurora is required to follow the process of lodging the agreement with the Workplace Authority for assessment."
