Harris Smith Named Managing Partner of Private Equity and Strategic Relationships at Grant Thornton LLP

Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd (Grant Thornton International), announced that Harris Smith was named to managing partner of Private Equity and Strategic Relationships. Smith was previously the West Region managing partner.

As managing partner of Private Equity, Smith oversees a team of dedicated professionals who provide services to private equity firms, professionals and portfolio companies. Throughout the lifecycle of a fund, the Private Equity team delivers timely value through audit, tax, transaction and other specialty services.

As managing partner of Strategic Relationships, Smith is also responsible for the development and enhancement of strategic relationships for Grant Thornton LLP. In this role, he works to further elevate the firm's reputation, build the Grant Thornton brand, and create relationships with key organizations to aid in Grant Thornton's growth.

In addition to his roles at Grant Thornton, Smith serves as Chairman of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), a global community for professionals involved in corporate growth, corporate development and mergers and acquisitions.

Smith is a CPA with more than 30 years of experience. He possesses a deep understanding of the accounting and business issues of several industries, including manufacturing, distribution, service and technology, and he has served clients ranging from large owner-managed organizations to publicly traded multinational corporations. Smith has a long history at Grant Thornton, having begun his career in the firm's Baltimore office before heading up the Assurance practice in Southern California and then becoming office managing partner of the Greater Bay Area offices. Immediately prior to his current position, he was the West Region managing partner.
