Intertek Becomes First Approved Testing Lab for Verizon Wireless' Open Development Devices

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., and BOXBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Intertek, an industry leader that specializes in wireless, telecommunications and mobile application testing, announced today that it has been certified by Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, as the first approved independent third party device testing lab for Verizon Wireless' Open Development initiative.

Verizon Wireless' Open Development program will allow customers to use any approved device on the company's national voice and data network after developers have met relevant specifications and certification. Intertek's certification allows the company to conduct Open Development testing for device manufacturers in pursuit of certification to run on the Verizon Wireless network. Once certified, those devices may operate on Verizon Wireless' network.
