SOMS Technologies Introduces New Oil Filter That Enables Vehicles to Operate Up to 30,000 Miles Without Oil Change

SOMS Technologies LLC, a provider of engine oil filtration products, today introduced its microGreen(TM) Extended Performance Oil Filter, enabling vehicles to operate up to 30,000 miles without an oil change. The patented microGreen oil filter has 2 filters in 1 standard spin on canister, which ensures that the oil stays cleaner, far longer. The microGreen technology reduces the use of oil by 70% and oil filters by 50%. This saves money while significantly decreasing the potential for improper disposal of these hazardous wastes and helps protect our environment.
There are over 600 million gallons of motor oil and 485 million oil filters sold in the U.S. every year. Only 50% of these filters are recycled. The EPA estimates that 'Do It Yourself' oil changes generate in excess of 200 million gallons of used oil each year. One gallon of improperly disposed used oil can pollute one million gallons of water, threatening drinking water and our environment, and equivalent to the water supply consumed by 50 people in one year.
While traditional oil filters capture the larger particles, between to 25-40 microns, in the engine oil, microGreen's patented microfilter system captures particles down to 2 microns in size. This cleans the oil more effectively -- improving the engine life and reducing vehicle maintenance costs. Moreover, cleaner oil is better at reducing engine friction, which improves engine operating efficiency and therefore increases fuel efficiency.
"The automotive market has not seen a material advancement in oil filter technology since the early 1970s," said Miles Flamenbaum, CEO of SOMS Technologies. "By bringing this clean technology to the market, we are confident that we will change the behavior of fleet operators and individuals alike. We are excited to provide an innovative solution which offers tremendous cost savings, while making a significantly positive impact on our environment."
SOMS Technologies is targeting various industries with this unique solution, including enterprises, government organizations, educational institutions and individuals.
