SP AusNet Upgrades Electricity Supply for East Gippsland in Australia
SP AusNet, engaged in electricity and gas distribution, has completed more than 220 maintenance works to improve electricity supply for the East Gippsland region in the Australian state of Victoria.
The total value of the work was more than A$1 million and is expected to lead to more reliable power supply for the region.
SP AusNet crews carried out upgrade works on the electricity lines from the east of Bairnsdale to Mallacoota, replacing powerpoles, crossarms and insulators, as well as other general maintenance works.
Natasha Whalley, spokesperson of SP AusNet, said: "Months of planning involved meant that we were able to keep power on for almost 4,600 of the 6,000 customers in the area while we carried out work via the use of generators. At least 100 other maintenance jobs were carried out before the weekend using the special live technique so that fewer customers' power was affected."
