WTU Retail Energy Brings Fall Savings to West Texas

October 22, 2008

ABILENE, Texas, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ — WTU Retail Energy began celebrating fall a little early this year. In mid-September, the company put into effect a five percent price decrease on its Direct Electricity Plan (DEP) and launched a sweepstakes for West Texans that will culminate with the presentation of the keys for one hybrid SUV to a lucky winner in early December.

“As a long-term, customer-focused energy partner to West Texans, WTU is committed to helping customers by keeping prices stable and competitive,” said Jim Steffes, vice president and general manager for WTU Retail Energy. “We want to help our customers save on energy costs in the home, and on the road.”

The DEP price, which has remained stable since it was last reduced on January 1, 2007, was lowered for residential customers to $0.146 per kilowatt-hour based on a usage of 1,000 kWh/month. Annualized, the savings will be approximately $100 per household.

To help address the rising costs of everyday life, customers who were with WTU prior to September 1, 2008, are automatically enrolled for a chance to win one of hundreds of gasoline cards that will be distributed in December. WTU is also giving away one hybrid SUV — helping the winner lower the cost and environmental impact of their daily drive. The vehicle sweepstakes will run through October 31, 2008. The winner of the Hybrid SUV will be announced at the Christmas Lights Parade in Abilene on December 2. Details on the sweepstakes and the winners’ names can be found at wturetailenergy.com/pricedown.

“WTU is focused on making meaningful impacts in the communities where our employees live and work. Our customers have been with WTU for a long time, and we appreciate their continued business and look forward to serving West Texans for years to come,” said Steffes.
