US Airways to Launch Daily Service to Birmingham and Oslo

US Airways has announced that it will launch a new daily service to Birmingham, UK and Oslo, Norway from its international gateway at the Philadelphia International Airport in the US, effective May 2009.

The new routes will complement US Airways's Tel Aviv service, which was announced earlier in 2008. The two routes are subject to foreign government approval.

Birmingham becomes the fifth UK destination US Airways serves, while Oslo is the airline's second Scandinavian destination after Stockholm, Sweden. The two seasonal routes will be operated with Boeing 757 ETOPS aircraft.

Suzanne Boda, senior vice president of East Coast for international and cargo operations at US Airways, said: "We are thrilled to expand our presence in the UK with Birmingham and offer our customers their first Norwegian option in Oslo."
