RWE Gas Slovensko, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Czech Republic-based RWE Transgas, has launched natural gas supply operations in Slovakia.
RWE already supplies over 500,000 electricity customers in Slovakia through the company Vychodoslovenska energetika (VSE). RWE Transgas and VSE are subsidiaries of RWE Energy.
Initially, gas will be delivered to corporate customers with an annual consumption of more than 4GWh. Contracts with several key accounts from all over Slovakia have already been concluded for 2009.
Norbert Schurmann, representing RWE in Slovakia apart from his function as CEO of VSE, said: "Above and beyond pure energy supplies, we are entering the market with tailored and competitive energy solutions for the price-sensitive Slovakian consumers."
