BHEL Secures NTPC Order for 660MW Steam Turbine Generators
Bharat Heavy Electricals has been awarded its first commercial order for 660MW steam turbine generators with supercritical parameters by National Thermal Power Corporation of India. The contract is valued at INR14.74 billion.
The contract is for setting up the 2x660MW steam turbine generator package at the Stage-II of the Barh thermal power project, located about 75km from Patna in the Indian state of Bihar.
Bharat Heavy Electricals's (BHEL) scope of work under the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two steam turbine generator sets of 660MW each along with associated auxiliaries.
For the project, the turbine generators will be manufactured by BHEL at its Haridwar works, while the company's Hyderabad plant will supply the pumps and heaters. The construction of the plant will be undertaken by BHEL's power sector unit for the eastern region.
