Hong Kong Airlines to Introduce A330 Wide-Body Operations in 2009
Hong Kong Airlines has announced that it will introduce Airbus A330 wide-body operations in 2009, providing medium-haul passenger and cargo services between Hong Kong and cities in the Middle East and Australia.
By the end of 2007, Hong Kong Airlines had placed a firm order for a total of 50 A330 wide-body aircraft and A320 aircraft. The plan is to expand into the medium-haul market by as early as the middle of 2009.
The part of the plan involves change of fleet composition, reducing the number of Boeing 737-800 narrow-body aircraft currently in use, as the airline will introduce A330 wide-body aircraft into service progressively.
Hong Kong Express Airways will also be increasing its fleet of Boeing 737-800 to eight aircraft by the middle of December 2008.
