Canadian Hydrogen Association: Innovative Clean Energy Hub Could Be a First for Ontario
Posted on: Friday, 31 October 2008, 15:00 CDT
The Canadian Hydrogen Association will work with Bruce Power and representatives of the University of Waterloo and McMaster University to study the potential of building a clean energy hub at Nanticoke involving next generation nuclear, hydrogen, wind and solar. The proposal could produce clean electricity and create thousands of jobs.
Bruce Power announced today that it was launching an Environmental Assessment (EA) planning process considering new nuclear at Nanticoke and in parallel will study hydrogen, wind and solar options for the site.
"The CHA supports Bruce Power's innovative plan to consider the first clean energy hub of this kind in Ontario and will work with the company and two respected Canadian Universities to study the implementation in parallel with the EA for new nuclear," said Terry Kimmel, President and CEO of the Canadian Hydrogen Association.
About the CHA
The Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA) is a not-for-profit corporation that promotes the production, transportation, storage and application of hydrogen in its myriad applications and encourages the development of industrial hydrogen and hydrogen energy systems to improve the environment.
