November 3, 2008

Pacific Blue, the New Zealand-based subsidiary of Australian airline Virgin Blue, has launched regular services from Brisbane, Australia to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The airline will operate four direct return flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Brisbane and Papua New Guinea, in the future under codeshare with Airlines PNG, using a fleet of Boeing 737-800 jet aircraft.

Brett Godfrey, CEO of Virgin Blue, said: “There has been a strong economic and cultural relationship between Australia and Papua New Guinea for years and the launch of our services to and from Papua New Guinea can only strengthen the connection between our two countries.”
