Clean energy technology company, Solar Systems, has opened its A$10 million Bridgewater R&D facility, near Bendigo in Australia.
According to the company, hi-tech photovoltaic technology currently being tested at the Bridgewater facility will be progressively installed at an A$420 million large-scale solar power station.
Construction of the demonstration solar power station will commence in 2009 following the signing of a A$292 million development agreement between Melbourne-based Solar Systems and TRUenergy in February 2008.
Michael Hamson, chairman of Solar Systems, said that the completion of the 140kW Bridgewater facility was a major milestone for the company and thanked the Federal Government of Australia and the Victorian State Government for help in this project.
Mr Hamson said: "This project is an important step in the development of this technology, our company and an entire new industry that is ideally positioned to contribute to our response to climate change while also supporting Victoria and Australia's economy."
