MotorCar Parts of America to Present Pure Energy Power Spin at AAPEX 2008

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Motorcar Parts of America (Nasdaq:MPAA) today announced it will participate at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) opening tomorrow and present an innovative application of its product by incorporating man-made generated power from a bicycle with several of the company's alternators to create pure energy.

This unique demonstration will take place at Motorcar Parts of America's Pure Energy Booth #2638 at the AAPEX trade show from November 4-6 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The alternators will generate clean power and pure energy, which will be collected in a power well containing automotive batteries. Each of the nine bicycles will output 70-100 watts of power, with a continuous charge that will keep the DJ spinning a mix of chill down-tempo music tracks throughout the three-day show.

An original software program will track the energy output, which will be displayed on a giant screen at the booth.

"This demonstration highlights our company's commitment to a sustainable environment. By utilizing advanced remanufacturing systems and technology, we generate very little waste -- which is extremely important to preserving our country's environment. In short, we provide a superior solution utilizing significantly less power than that is required for producing new units. Our engineering team has created a truly unique application of Pure Energy for the show -- totally clean power generated using quality and environmentally friendly products. We look forward to showcasing it to the attendees at AAPEX," said Selwyn Joffe, chairman, president and chief executive officer.

He noted that the idea of generating power through bikes and alternators is a fairly new endeavor pioneered by Global Inheritance, a non-profit organization working to reinvent activism for today's young generation. "It perfectly complements Motorcar Parts of America's idea of recycling materials in the production of remanufactured alternators and starters, which is approximately 95 percent," Joffe said.

"Through our partnership with Motorcar Parts of America, Global Inheritance is now ready to move the needle in our ability to demonstrate man made energy," said Eric Ritz, executive director of Global Inheritance. "What we plan to demonstrate during AAPEX this year will break new ground and open the eyes of all attendees," he added.

Founded in 2002, Global Inheritance is dedicated to the power of creativity to communicate and push for progressive social change. Global Inheritance targets various subcultures, developing campaigns that cater specifically to each individual demographic. Through interactivity, inspiration and education, Global Inheritance provides a bridge between ideas and action.

Motorcar Parts of America is celebrating 40 years of sustainable energy this year.
