Borrego Solar Systems, Inc., a leading integrator of grid-connected solar electric power systems, today announced that the company was honored as the seventh-fastest growing private company in the Bay Area as part of the San Francisco Business Times annual Fast 100 list. Borrego Solar is the highest-ranking cleantech/energy company on the list, and the company's revenue increased 158 percent from 2006 to 2007 thanks to increasing demand for solar energy among homeowners and businesses.
"We have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, thanks to the continuously increasing demand for solar energy and Borrego's reputation for its high-quality, reliable integration processes and customer service," said Mike Hall, president of Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. "Borrego has enjoyed great success in the Bay Area since opening our Berkeley office, and we are honored to be the highest-ranking company in our industry as part of the prestigious San Francisco Business Times Fast 100 list. We anticipate continued success for years to come thanks to the extension of the federal solar investment tax credit, progressive legislation at the state and local level and the overall adoption of solar by Bay Area home and business owners as a viable alternative energy solution."
The annual San Francisco Business Times Fast 100 list, now in its 17th year, ranks the fastest growing private companies in the San Francisco Bay Area based on percentage revenue growth during the companies' three most recent fiscal years. During this three-year period, Borrego Solar's revenue climbed by more than 340 percent. As a result of this sharp growth, the company's staff increased from 32 employees at the end of 2006 to more than 160 today. Some of the company's notable Bay Area solar projects include the Peter A. and Vernice H. Gasser Foundation in Napa, Calif. (123 kW), the William Sonoma store in Emeryville, Calif. (27 kW), Marin County Day School (107 kW) and two schools in the New Haven Unified School District in Union City, Calif. (325 kW).
