Brazilian integrated energy major Petrobras has reported exports of 574,000 barrels of domestic oil per day in October 2008, topping-out at 17.8 million barrels of oil in the month. This has surpassed the company's previous export volume record set in April 2007, by 42,000 barrels per day.
The volume was exported mainly to the United States, at 65.2%, followed by China accounting for 24.1%, Europe at 5.5%, and South America at 5.2%.
Petrobras said that, in addition to the volumetric challenge, logistics were even more complex on account of the need to combine different types of oil in a same shipment in order to attain better value for the company.
