American Airlines October Passenger Traffic Down
American Airlines has announced that its passenger traffic decreased 8.8% to 10.51 billion revenue passenger miles in October 2008, compared to 11.52 billion revenue passenger miles in October 2007.
The airline has reported a load factor of 79% in October 2008, a decrease of 1.5 points, compared to 80.6% in the same period of 2007. Capacity decreased 7% to 13.3 billion available seat miles, compared to 14.3 billion available seat miles in October 2007.
In October 2008, the airline’s domestic traffic decreased 11.5% year-over-year on 10.3% less capacity, while international traffic decreased 3.6% on a capacity decrease of 1.1%.
American Airlines has boarded 7.43 million passengers in October 2008, a decrease of 9.1%, compared to 8.18 million passengers in the same period of 2007.
