Vattenfall Acquires Interest in Enea
Swedish power utility Vattenfall has announced that it is subscribing for 18.7% of the Polish energy company, Enea, for SEK4.5 billion.
Enea has a distribution network that supplies electricity across 20% of Poland. In 2007, Enea supplied 13TWh of electricity to 2.3 million customers.
Vattenfall plans to contribute its knowledge and experience regarding the carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology to Enea.
Lars Josefsson, CEO of Vattenfall, said: "Poland is an interesting market for us and this acquisition strengthens our presence there. We also look forward to contributing our knowledge of CCS technology and how the energy sector can decrease emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases."
