ComEd and NEED Sponsor Energy Education Workshops for Northern Illinois Teachers

CHICAGO, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- ComEd and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project will host Illinois Energy Workshops on energy efficiency to help participating teachers instill environmentally responsible attitudes and behaviors they can carry with them throughout their lives. The workshops will be held at several Northern Illinois locations beginning this month and running through January 2009.
The one-day workshops will provide K-12 educators with teacher-tested, hands-on educational materials covering the concepts of force, motion, light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism and energy transformations, energy and the sources of energy. NEED materials and training programs provide comprehensive, objective information about these scientific concepts, as well as their impact on the environment, the economy and society.
Through ComEd's sponsorship, there is no cost to attend the workshops and substitute teacher costs will be reimbursed to school districts. The ComEd NEED Illinois Energy Workshops will be held:
o Nov. 18 in Crystal Lake o Nov. 19 in Tinley Park o Dec. 9 in Oak Brook o Dec. 16 in Chicago o Jan. 13 in Oak Brook o Jan. 22 in Chicago

These workshops give teachers the tools to both educate kids about basic energy concepts and inspire them to think about making their world more energy efficient," said Val R.
