AReM Welcomes New Member – Reliant Energy

The Board of Directors of the Alliance for Retail Energy Markets (AReM) is pleased to announce the addition of Reliant Energy to its membership effective October 1st. Reliant will be represented on the AReM Board of Directors by Trent Carlson, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs.

Reliant Energy, Inc. is based in Houston, Texas and provides electricity and energy-related products to approximately 1.8 million retail and wholesale customers in Texas and the Mid-Atlantic Region. Reliant is one of the largest independent power producers in the nation with more than 15,000 megawatts of power generation capacity in operation or under contract in the U.S.

According to AReM President Andrea Morrison, "AReM is proud to have Reliant join a growing organization of members all committed to re-opening retail competition in the marketplace. The Alliance brings together many of the nation's leading retail energy suppliers, including Constellation New Energy, Direct Energy, Reliant Energy and Sempra Energy Solutions, collectively serving the majority of competitively served electric load in California.

New Officers Elected at AReM Annual Meeting

During its Annual Meeting and Elections held in September in Sacramento, the AReM Board of Directors elected its officers for the 2008/2009 year. Leading AReM into the future will be:
