NYSSA’s Alternative Energy & Clean Tech Industry Conference
Remember when ethanol in gas was a wayward idea, and we wholeheartedly believed in the notion that we had enough fossil fuel to sustain us forever (and we do if forever is marked by only a couple thousand years). As more and more countries are turning to alternative energy like ethanol, solar power, wind, and water, investors are taking serious notice in alternative energy.
The New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) presents the Alternative Energy & Clean Tech Industry Conference, being held on November 20, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.
With oil futures and gasoline prices hitting all-time highs, investment in alternative energy technology has been soaring. More than $148 billion was invested in the sustainable energy sector globally in 2007, up 60% from 2006. Wind energy attracted the most investment with $50.2 billion.
However, by the fall, valuations have plummeted along with the general market. The WilderHill Clean Energy Index (ECO), an AMEX-listed index that tracks 54 publicly-traded alternative energy companies, was at 101.23, down from over 240 during the same period last year, and down 13.7% since its launch in 2004.
Alternative energy is no longer the starry-eyed dream of environmentalist; leading politicians like Michael Bloomberg understand the need to shift to alternative means. Over the last couple of years, solar, wind and bio-fuel companies in particular have seen a run up in their share prices, and have now pulled back drastically. Some analysts argue that with reasonable stock prices, an undeniable market demand, and president elect Barack Obama intent on investing in the sector, there is nowhere to go but up.
What does the future have in store for the alternative energy industry? Sit in as leading industry experts, as well as CEOs and CFOs from some of the most innovative new companies in the energy technology arena weigh in.
The conference will be held on November 20, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m., at NYSSA 1177 Avenue of the Americas, 2nd Floor, NY, NY. A complete agenda and registration form is available at www.nyssa.org/energy.
