IXYS Corporation, Biel, Switzerland (NASDAQ: IXYS) and Power Efficiency Corporation, Las Vegas, Nev. (OTCBB: PEFF) jointly announced today that they have entered into a partnership for the supply and sale of Power Efficiency's single phase E-Save Technology(TM) products. Single phase E-Save Technology(TM) products are used in appliances and small motors operating at variable loads, such as clothes washers and dryers.
IXYS will sell and market the single phase controller to its extensive global customer base. Many of IXYS' customers are large international appliance manufacturers located in North America, Asia and Europe. IXYS will also supply Power Efficiency with several core components for the controllers, which will be manufactured by Power Efficiency.
Dr. Nathan Zommer, Chairman and CEO of IXYS, said, "Power Efficiency presented a compelling value proposition where we can add value, not only as a semiconductor supplier, but also in helping introduce their PCB-based modular product to our OEM customers. At IXYS, we are constantly exploring opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of the products of our more than 2,500 customers worldwide. Thus, without competing with our customers, and with our strategy of increasing the demand for IXYS' semiconductors, we have entered this special relationship with PEFF."
Steven Strasser, Chairman and CEO of Power Efficiency Corporation, said, "We are very pleased to partner with IXYS Corporation. This partnership is very strategic for Power Efficiency Corporation. IXYS is one of the most highly regarded suppliers of power semiconductors in the world. Their sales and marketing group has a global reach to numerous customers that can benefit from our single phase E-Save Technology(TM) Motor Controller. Power Efficiency will also use a number of components supplied by IXYS in manufacturing its controller. It is truly a mutually beneficial business relationship.
"We believe the demand for energy efficient appliances will continue to grow globally. I expect government regulations for increased energy efficiency standards, combined with a number of utility and government initiatives to encourage energy efficiency, will result in a strong demand for our product. We believe E-Save Technology(TM) is a very cost effective energy savings solution."
