The Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) today announced that Ed Thomas has joined the organization as Director of EGIA's new Utility Exchange and Contractor Exchange Services.
"The addition of Ed to our management team enables EGIA to accelerate our activities to enhance energy efficiency and renewable energy collaboration among utilities, while also promoting best practices among contractors engaged in the sales and installation of home and business efficiency upgrades," said Bruce Matulich, EGIA Executive Director.
Ed is perhaps best known in the energy utility industry as an engaging presenter and innovative program designer. Ed will direct EGIA's Utility Exchange and Contractor Exchange business units to plan and produce activities where utilities, energy related organizations, and contractors can learn and network regarding energy efficiency, renewable energy, customer service, marketing, sales and enhanced business operations. Initial EGIA program offerings will include:
-- Utility Exchange - regional workshops and national webcasts for utilities focused on the marketing and integration of energy efficiency, renewable energy and demand response programs
-- "Beyond Home Energy Audits..." - regional workshops focused on existing home efficiency programs that leverage the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program concept
-- Contractor Exchange - regional workshops and national webcasts for residential and commercial building contractors covering business management, energy efficiency and renewable energy topics.
-- Home Performance Makeover - contests and workshops that demonstrate the value of home improvements that pay for themselves through energy savings and non-energy benefits.
Ed Thomas has over 20 years of extensive experience in sales, marketing management and consulting services throughout the utility and energy services industry. Ed earned a Master's of Science degree in Marketing from The American University, Washington, DC; and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Communications from Butler University.
