AirAsia X has launched a new service from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Melbourne in Australia.
The airline operates the new service using wide-bodied Airbus A330-300 aircraft. AirAsia X will service the route between Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur initially with four return flights per week.
AirAsia X has announced plans to upgrade this schedule to daily return flights during the peak season from December 18, 2008 to January 16, 2009. Daily return flights will then commence from March 2009.
Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X, said: "The airline was thrilled to have successfully expanded its growing network to Victoria. We are expecting this route to perform strongly as it is one of the most requested Australian destinations from our Malaysian guests and we know Melbourne travelers are keen to have regular, affordable travel options to Malaysia."
