Julie S. Janson to Lead Duke Energy in Ohio and Kentucky
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Julie S. Janson, senior vice president of ethics and compliance, and corporate secretary at Duke Energy, has been named president of Duke Energy Ohio and Duke Energy Kentucky, effective Dec. 1.

In her new role, Janson will be responsible for advancing the company's rate and regulatory initiatives, and managing state and local regulatory and governmental relations, economic development and community affairs. She will also focus on education and advocacy on issues important to Duke Energy.
Janson's move is part of broader leadership changes at Duke Energy.
"Having worked years with Ohio-based Cinergy, Julie is sensitive to the needs and interests of the Midwest," said James E. Rogers, Duke Energy chairman, president and CEO. "I am confident that she will do a great job leading our regulatory, legislative and community efforts in the two states."
Janson joined Duke Energy in 2006, following Duke's merger with Cinergy. Before that, she served as corporate secretary and chief compliance officer with Cinergy.
While there, she led investor relations and also served as counsel for various areas, including executive compensation, governance, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Cinergy, Janson was corporate attorney for The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company (CG&E), playing a role in the merger of CG&E and PSI Energy, which formed Cinergy Corp.
Janson earned her juris doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. She also holds a bachelor of arts degree in American studies from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky. She is a member of the Ohio and Kentucky bars, with legal experience that spans more than 20 years.
