Meijer girl’s hat and mitten sets recalled

December 4, 2008

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Meijer Inc. girl’s hat and mitten sets due to a choking hazard.

The winter clothing sets include magnets in the hat that can detach, posing a hazard to children, the commission said.

About 100 of the sets, imported from China by Meijer Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., were sold in Midwest stores from August to October for about $12.

The hat and mitten sets are made of cotton with pink, lavender, orange and green stripes and an assortment of patterns.

Consumers were advised to take the hats and mitten sets from children and return them to a Meijer store for a refund.

Consumers can call 800-927-8699 for information.
