PSEG leader receives honor for advocacy

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey (WPCNJ) will honor PSEG chairman, president and CEO, Ralph Izzo, tomorrow evening for his advocacy on behalf of women. Izzo will be awarded one of two “Good Guys Awards” at WPCNJ’s annual “Passion, Power and Progress” awards ceremony.

“We’re proud to honor Ralph Izzo for his efforts to advance and promote women to positions of leadership within PSEG,” said Sharon L. Weiner, president of WPCNJ. “He is truly a role model.”

PSEG is dedicated to promoting diversity and recognizes that in order to face the increasingly complex challenges of society and business, there must be full and complete participation of all members of society.

“It is as critical for women to be active in political and policy arenas as it is for businesses to embrace the value of diversity in the workforce,” said Izzo.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by former president and chair of the NJN Foundation Board of Trustees, Elizabeth Christopherson. WPCNJ will also be honoring NJN News anchorwoman, Kent Manahan, and State Senator and Democratic Majority Leader, Stephen Sweeney.

PSEG is best known as the parent company of PSE&G, one of the largest utility companies in the nation and one of New Jersey’s leading companies since its establishment more than a century ago.

WPCNJ is a nonpartisan grassroots organization that works to increase representation of women in elected office and bring women’s voices and talents more fully to the legislative process. The organization was founded in 1972 to increase women’s participation in the political process and create a power base to achieve quality for all women.
