ICL Performance Products' Fire Safety Business Enters into Agreement with Barricade Fire Gel

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ICL Performance Products (ICL), maker of Phos-Chek, the world's leading brand of wildland and structural fire chemicals, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Barricade International to market and sell Barricade brand Fire Blocking Gel. ICL will add Barricade to its line of world-class fire chemicals. ICL already sells a fire suppressant gel, Phos-Chek AquaGel-K, a powdered gel concentrate, used in aerial firefighting by CalFire and other agencies. Barricade, a liquid concentrate, will allow ICL to pursue ground application and structure protection markets where gels add the most value.

Edward Goldberg, ICL's Fire Safety Business Director, said, "Phos-Chek is known worldwide as a high-quality, high-performing and safe brand. We had the opportunity to survey all the gels on the market and we believe that Barricade is the most effective and most environmentally friendly liquid concentrate gel on the market today." In fact, Barricade was recently awarded a "Champion" designation by the Environmental Protection Agency for being the only liquid fire gel concentrate that is free of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), a potentially hazardous surfactant found in other liquid concentrate gels. Surfactants are chemicals that stabilize mixtures of oil and water.

Barricade has been widely recognized for its effectiveness in protecting structures and wildland from surrounding forest fires. It is used by fire departments in areas susceptible to forest fires and is available for individual homeowners in retail markets.
