Motorola and Datamax-O’Neil Energize Interstate Batteries with Rugged Enterprise Mobility Solution

Rugged mobile computers and printers help streamline processes, improve efficiency and reduce costs

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. and IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The Enterprise Mobility business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), Datamax-O’Neil, a subsidiary of Dover Corporation (NYSE: DOV), together with Motorola PartnerSelect Premier Business Partner Systems Application Engineering (SAE), today announced Interstate Batteries has deployed an enterprise mobility solution throughout its network of nearly 300 distributors. Interstate Batteries is a privately held group of companies that supply top-quality, value-priced batteries, related electrical power-source products, and distribution services.

Interstate Batteries selected Motorola’s WAN-enabled rugged MC9090 mobile computers and O’Neil mobile MicroFlash 4t (MF4T) printers to connect to Interstate’s Route Management System (RMSII) to help improve route accounting productivity, field operations, field communications and inventory management. Equipped with Bluetooth(R) and signature capture capabilities, the MC9090 mobile computers have provided significant operational efficiencies enabling route managers to download dealer information and service requirements while simultaneously uploading invoices into the company’s network – reducing a 30 minute process to just one to two minutes. The mobile O’Neil MF4T printers have also streamlined the invoicing and receipt process by eliminating the need for Interstate Batteries’ mobile workers to travel back and forth to the truck for printing.

The success Interstate Batteries has achieved is similar to what other enterprise customers have realized by taking advantage of the joint solutions offered by Motorola and O’Neil. As a result of the recently finalized Global Business Alliance agreement between Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility business and O’Neil, the framework for joint development on a variety of strategic marketing, product and business initiatives has been expanded.
