VIENNA, Austria, December 5 /PRNewswire/ — “Senator Pacheco’s continuing
effort as environmental advocate in Massachusetts and as ‘Climate Messenger’
of Al Gore is a role model in paradigm change of the Administration of Barack
Obama
,” said Josef Mantl, spokesperson of the “Sustainable Future Campaign”,
the initiative on sustainable development of the United Nations Youth and
Student Association of Austria.

As Vice President of the United Nations Youth and Students Association of
Austria, Josef Mantl founded the SFC as an international initiative in 2007,
while spending two years as a Fulbright scholar in Boston. Inspired by Al
Gore
and considering the threats of global warming and climate change, SFC
set the following objectives: creation of political awareness of the policies
needed for communities to support sustainable development; – analysis of
sustainable development and its impacts; sensitization of opinion leaders and
the general public for the concern the United Nations maintains on the issue
of sustainable development and support of the UN Millennium Development Goals.

“We have a ‘man on the moon – moment’: believe that the political will of
the administration of President-elect Obama is there and he will create the
same movement that took place with the space program in the range of
sustainable development,” mentioned Senator Marc R. Pacheco, Chairman of the
Massachusetts Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change, in his
acceptance speech.

“We have not inherited the world from our parents, but rather borrowed it
from our children,” – Mantl closes with the words of German poet Wilhelm
Busch
.
