Tampa Author's New Book, A Tree's Christmas, to Benefit Arbor Day Foundation's Plant-A-Tree Program

Posted on: Tuesday, 9 December 2008, 08:18 CST

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Tampa author Andrew Bowen and the Arbor Day Foundation are teaming up in a program that provides $1 from each sale of Bowen's new Christmas book to plant one tree in the nation's forests.

The goal is to sell 2,400 copies of the book A Tree's Christmas online by Christmas Day, which will allow the Arbor Day Foundation (www.arborday.org) to plant 2,400 trees in one of the nation's forests. The Arbor Day Foundation depends on the U.S. Forest Service to determine which national or state forests rank highest in their need for new seedlings, so buyers of A Tree's Christmas (www.atreeschristmas.com) will know their donation will have the most benefit.

"A Tree's Christmas is a celebration of the life and personality of some very talkative trees, and especially the Christmas tree, the lead character," said Bowen. "It's wonderful to be able to help build up the population of trees in our nation's forests using a story told by a tree that's all about trees."

"We are thrilled to be planting trees in the nation's forests with the help of author Andrew Bowen," said Kevin Sander, director of corporate partners at the Arbor Day Foundation. "Trees help clean the air we breathe and drinking water for millions of Americans, provide habitat for wildlife and add beauty to our world."

Sales of A Tree's Christmas also are benefiting the All Children's Hospital Foundation (www.allkids.org), the Nature Conservancy/Florida (www.tnc.org), the PACE Center for Girls/Hillsborough (www.pacecenter.org/Hillsborough.htm), and Foster Angels/Hillsborough.
