A-B InBev to cut 1,400 jobs
December 9, 2008
Belgian brewing giant A-B InBev announced it was cutting 1,400 U.S. salaried positions three weeks after it took over U.S. brewing icon Anheuser-Busch.
Most of the jobs lost — more than 1,000 of them — will take place at the American brewer’s headquarters in St. Louis, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Tuesday.
The brunt of the job losses are in engineering, information technology and other corporate jobs, the newspaper said.
These actions are pretty consistent with what InBev has done in other acquisitions,
bond analyst Craig Hutson told the Post-Dispatch. It shouldn’t be a surprise to too many people,
he said.
Anheuser has not been run as the most efficient of companies,
Hutson said. A-B InBev, has an opportunity to change that.
