Recognized for Excellence in Information Technology Leadership

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — PSEG’s Manoj Chouthai has been named to Computerworld’s list of top IT leaders. Chouthai, a Montclair resident, is PSEG’s vice president-information technology and chief information officer. His leadership and creativity in planning and deploying information technology systems, service and management philosophy are noted in the magazine issue hitting newsstands this week.

“Manoj has been the driving force behind the way information technology is used and valued at PSEG. His vision, leadership and strong technical skills have enabled business growth and helped our leaders make better business decisions,” said Bert Simpson, president & chief operating officer of PSEG Services Corporation.

Each year Computerworld honors the 100 IT executives who have led their organizations by mentoring and motivating employees; envisioning innovative solutions to business challenges, and effectively managing and executing IT strategies.

This year’s honorees were selected from over 1,000 nominees from companies in all industries. Nominees were measured against Computerworld’s IT Leadership Index, a set of characteristics that describes executives who guide the effective use of IT in their organizations, and evaluated by the editors and by a panel of outside judges. The candidates were asked about a range of topics, including their backgrounds, work experiences, special accomplishments and leadership styles.

Chouthai has over twenty years of diverse work experience, and has earned a reputation for successfully managing complex organizations that deliver significant, measurable results. As vice president of information technology and chief information officer at PSEG, he is responsible for setting the information strategy for the company, optimizing the costs of IT products and services and implementing new solutions within the agreed cost, scope and schedule. His ability to get these things done has earned him rave reviews from clients and coworkers alike.

Chouthai has been instrumental in improving the performance of PSEG’s information technology staff, due in large part to his efforts to allow his department to pilot workforce development programs that give employees flexible work options.

Chouthai holds a Master of Science degree in information systems from the Graduate School of Arts and Science at New York University (NYU), and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stern School of Business at NYU.
