Committee Recognizes Cutting Edge SCR Catalyst Regeneration and Management Technology along with Revolutionary Mercury Remediation Technology

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — CoaLogix, owned by Acorn Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACFN) and EnerTech Capital, today announced that it has been awarded the 2008 Platts Global Energy Award for Commercial Technology of the Year. The Platts Global Energy Awards, which are widely considered the “Academy Awards of the Energy Industry,” recognize leadership and innovation in the energy industry, recognize excellence and innovation by companies and executives in more than a dozen sectors within the global energy industry. Platts received nearly 200 nominations from energy companies in more than 22 countries. Nominees included integrated energy companies, private and public laboratories, power generators, producers, refiners, consultants and others.

The Commercial Technology of the Year Award recognizes companies which are truly on the forefront of sustainable technological innovation. To qualify, companies must show that their commercial technology has practical applications in the pursuit of efficiency, business advantage and profit. Nominees must demonstrate the significance of their technology in relation to emissions reduction, practicality, reliability and overall commercial success. CoaLogix was selected as the winner of the Award over hundreds of other nominees and six other prominent and distinguished finalists including CNOOC (The China National Offshore Oil Corporation), EnerNOC, Lennox Industries, Red Spider, Salt River Project and Southern California Edison.

CoaLogix provides cutting edge services to coal fired generating facilities to reduce their environmental footprint through technology, optimization and efficiency improvements. SCR-Tech’s technology allows the regeneration of catalyst used in Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) used by power plants for the reduction of nitrogen oxide. Nitrogen oxides are a large contributor to greenhouse gases and the environmental footprint of coal fired power plants.
