BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Greycon Ltd., a world leader in supply chain optimisation for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, announces its acquisition of Effsys Effektiva, a Swedish specialist in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The acquisition brings to Greycon an industry-specific MES, under the name of GreyconMill, that is fully integrated with Greycon’s world-class production planning and scheduling optimisation products: S-Plan, X-Trim, and D-Opt.

Effsys Effektiva, headed by Hans Franzen, has an extensive background in pulp and paper. The company’s MES solutions are built on a standard system core, common for all implementations, with a client and interface layer adaptable to individual site needs. Together, Greycon and Effsys Effektiva have delivered integrated solutions to customers such as Kodak and StoraEnso Fors.

“We had worked with the Greycon systems for well over 10 years, and we have always been impressed with the functionality, value for money for our customers, product focus, support team and the development capacity. Greycon has always been our ‘ideal’ company in terms of what we aimed for ourselves, the type of company we were striving to become,” said Hans Franzen. “Our existing customers are very happy with this move, as it allows us to provide them with a complete set of applications that address the needs of each type of customer, whether it be a small paper mill or a large corporation, anywhere in the world.” With the acquisition, Greycon acquires an office in Gothenburg, Sweden, which will continue to be headed by Hans Franzen.

GreyconMill is a software solution that enables more effective monitoring and control of plant operations. The GreyconMill MES offers unique features to customers in the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, including:

  • State-of-the-art solution, based on many years experience
  • Rich interface capabilities to process automation
  • Configurable by the end user
  • State-of-the-art internal object-oriented architecture, with resilience built in from the ground up
  • State-of-the-art user interface

“GreyconMill is a natural addition to our product portfolio. This broadening of our functional coverage, in a manner that complements rather than competes with our SAP partnership, is an exciting new opportunity. The facts that we have been partnering for a long time, that the systems are already integrated and that we use a common technology platform based on Microsoft’s .NET constitute good omens for this acquisition,” said Constantine Goulimis, CEO of Greycon Ltd.
