The state of the US economy is affecting all sectors of American
business, but the auto sector has been hit particularly hard by the
recession. According to Autodata, industry-wide sales are the lowest they’ve
been since 1982. But there is positive news for one American automaker: MOTOR
TREND magazine has announced that the 2009 Truck of the Year is the Ford
F-150!

The other contenders for the Truck of the Year title were: the Dodge Ram
1500, the Suzuki Equator and the Hummer H3T. Footage of the truck of the
year, as well as commentary from magazine editors will be fed via satellite
following the announcement. They will discuss the importance of the truck
category and why this year’s winner is an important vehicle for the industry.
