Three recent projects complete BP Solar’s portion of pilot project portfolio

FREDERICK, Md., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — BP Solar today announced the completion of its solar power construction program for Wal-Mart. The company recently completed construction of three sites in California, including the 493.7 kilowatt (kW) solar power system at the Sam’s Club in La Habra, California, as well as systems at Wal-Mart Super Centers in Palm Springs (605.9 kW) and Beaumont (675.2 kW).

The three systems totalling over 1.7 MW mark the final installations of BP Solar’s 4.1 MW commitment to Wal-Mart as part of the retailer’s solar pilot project.

“We are very proud to provide seven Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Clubs with clean solar energy,” said Mark Kerstens, vice president of sales and marketing for BP Solar. “These stores are shining examples of how businesses that choose renewable energy reduce their energy costs and can make a difference not only in a single community but in an entire region of the country.”

The 4.1 MW project consists of nearly twenty-four thousand solar panels expected to produce 6.7 million kWh of electricity per year. This is estimated to eliminate 4,786 Metric Tons of CO2 per year and is the equivalent of removing 877 cars from the road.

BP Solar’s commercial development team is focused on assisting corporations, to lower their energy costs while lessening the impact of their operations on the environment. The company offers a variety of financing options for its business customers including power purchase agreements, leasing and traditional purchase plans.
