Cliffs Natural Resources to Use AT&T Business Solutions for Global Networking and Wireless Services

CLEVELAND, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Business Solutions today announced a three-year agreement with Cliffs Natural Resources to enhance its global network and provide greater enterprise mobility through wireless services. Cliffs is an international mining and natural resources company with operations in North America, South America and Australia.

Cliffs needs global communications networking with speed and agility from a single provider to support the management of its worldwide operations. Under terms of the contract, AT&T Business Solutions will establish a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to support numerous data and voice applications among 20 locations worldwide. By enhancing efficiency and reliability, this network provides greater cost efficiencies and positions Cliffs for the future use of advanced technology applications, such as video and conferencing.

AT&T Business Solutions is also keeping Cliffs employees connected in the office and off-site with wireless service and handsets. These employees will experience the ease and flexibility of being connected on a global wireless network, giving them immediate access to each other and corporate resources.

Cliffs' portfolio of solutions will be consolidated with AT&T Business Network, a service that improves day-to-day business operations by helping reduce costs and simplifying management of telecommunications services through integration. Cliffs will also have access to the AT&T BusinessDirect(R) Web portal, which provides immediate access to real-time information on network performance, electronic billing and ordering systems.
