Texas Petrochemicals Announces Filing of Form 10 Registration Statement with Securities and Exchange Commission

HOUSTON, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Texas Petrochemicals, Inc. (the "Company") (OTC: TXPI) today announced that on December 19, 2008 it filed a registration statement on Form 10 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in order to register its common stock under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. This filing is part of the process necessary for the Company to become a reporting company under the Exchange Act. The filing is not an effective registration statement and is subject to review by the SEC.

Texas Petrochemicals President and Chief Executive Officer Charles Shaver, said, "Filing the Form 10 with the SEC is an important milestone in our initiative to become an Exchange Act reporting company.
