Acura Announces December and 2008 Year-End Sales Results

TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ — Total Acura sales for the month of December reached 10,680 units, a decrease of 39.3 percent versus last December, while year-end Acura sales were 144,504, down 20.0 percent versus 2007, based on the daily selling rate*.

“Despite a challenging marketplace for the last few months of the year, each Acura model posted a month-to-month sales increase over November,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales. “With outstanding resale value and a strong lineup, Acura will be in an excellent position when the automobile market begins its recovery.”

The TL performance luxury sedan finished 2008 as Acura’s top-selling model, posting December sales of 3,607 and annual sales of 46,766, down 20.4 percent versus 2007. The TSX sports sedan posted monthly sales of 2,304 and total annual sales of 31,998, down 3.5 percent. The RL luxury sedan finished 2008 with sales of 4,517 units.

The MDX luxury SUV was Acura’s best-selling light truck, posting significant sales gains over last month with 3,383 units. Year-end MDX sales reached 45,377 units, down 22.8 percent. The turbocharged RDX crossover SUV posted December sales of 1,141 and year-end sales of 15,845 units, down 32.4 percent.
