Posted on: Tuesday, 20 January 2009, 07:00 CST

CARROLLTON, Texas, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Global 2000(2010) International, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) of the United Nations based in Carrollton, Texas, entered into a strategic relationship with the Republic of Sierra Leone to develop commerce and energy initiatives between the Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) area and the Republic of Sierra Leone.

On January 17, 2009, Michael Cheves, CEO and President of Global 2000(2010) International, met with Dr. Lancelot Lake, Technical Advisor for the Presidential Energy Initiative/Ministry of Energy and Power for the Office of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, to develop and implement this new strategic partnership.

Global 2000(2010) International will foster and implement new working relationships between Texas business partners and the Republic of Sierra Leone to help in its efforts to accomplish the Presidential Energy Initiative. It is crucial for the Presidential Energy Initiative to be fulfilled in order to accomplish the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 as set forth by the United Nations. An Energy Summit that will detail current and future business opportunities will be held in late March 2009 in the DFW area.

"As the number-one consumer of electricity in the United States, Texas has the knowledge and ability to partner with Sierra Leone to be the hub for West African Commerce," says Mr. Cheves. "I am excited about the opportunities this relationship will bring to our great state and the continent of Africa. It is my hope that companies in Texas will converge to partner with Dr. Lake and Global 2000(2010) to make this a reality in 2009."
