The U.S. Defense Department Friday awarded U.S. aerospace giant Boeing Co. a $581.4 million service contract for the multi-use V-22 Osprey aircraft.
The contract includes Bell Helicopter, Boeing's partner in building the tiltrotor aircraft, Crain's Chicago Business reported. Boeing will be reimbursed for costs, plus paid an incentive fee, Crain's reported.
The contract for servicing the aircraft that operates like a prop plane and a helicopter, runs through 2013.
