The electric drives market for the water and wastewater treatment industry (WWT) was growing high in the first half of 2008. However, this trend did not continue towards the end of the year. The economic crisis has slowed down the market growth due to held back investments in a lot of WWT plants. In response to the current economic situation market players are preparing for intense competition by providing more product features and value added services to ensure good sales. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on introducing new products catering to different end-user sectors in order to widen their customer base.
Highlights of briefing include analysis of challenges and future trends on the market, drives based on product types, and end user application. The briefing will give an insight on the global perspective and trends in different regions and will be especially interesting for the various drive manufacturers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
"Eastern Europe is expected to witness the highest growth in this market due to the need for more WWT plants coupled with compliance to the European Union's directives by the older WWT plants. The Western European market is driven primarily by replacement of systems in older applications, with newer ones," notes Venkataraman Salavakkam, Research Analyst for Frost & Sullivan's Industrial Automation & Process Control group.
