NEW YORK, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announces plans to continue its international expansion this spring with new service to Montego Bay, Jamaica, subject to receipt of government operating authority. JetBlue intends to begin low-fare flights between Sangster International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, with easy connections from numerous other Northeastern cities including Boston, Buffalo, Rochester, and Washington, beginning May 21, 2009.
Flights are expected to go on sale for U.S.-originating customers at www.jetblue.com on February 4, 2009, subject to receipt of government operating authority.
Montego Bay, one of 11 international cities on JetBlue’s route map, is one of more than 50 destinations to see JetBlue service this summer. Other new cities being added over the next few months by the value airline include Los Angeles; Bogota, Colombia; and San Jose, Costa Rica.
JetBlue will operate its Jamaica service with spacious 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The A320 offers travelers all of the amenities for which JetBlue has become well-regarded: seatback television programming, comfortable leather seats, the most legroom in coach of any U.S. airline, unlimited free snacks and industry-leading customer service.
