WILMERDING, Pa., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) said its MotivePower subsidiary has been awarded an option order to build an additional 20 MPXpress(R) commuter locomotives for GO Transit, a commuter rail and transit system in Ontario, Canada, for US $85 million. This contract is in addition to an original order for 27 locomotives, which have already been delivered.

The additional locomotives, which will be built at MotivePower’s Boise, Idaho facility, are scheduled to be delivered in late 2009 and 2010. The locomotives will contain a number of components produced by other Wabtec subsidiaries, including braking equipment, relays, contactors, air compressors, brake shoes and radiators.

“This order is a nice addition to our backlog and reflects our leading role in the commuter locomotive market,” said Albert J. Neupaver, Wabtec’s president and chief executive officer.

Since introducing the first MPXpress(R) model in 2003, MotivePower has continued to update its proven design. The MPXpress(R) includes the latest technology advancements and meets the latest crashworthiness and safety standards recommended by the American Public Transportation Association. In addition, the locomotive’s higher horsepower engines can move more passengers within the same schedule with improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
