Huaneng Power International, Inc. Obtains Approval on the New Cogeneration Power Plant Project at Huaneng Yingkou Power Plant

BEIJING, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Huaneng Power International, Inc. (the "Company") [NYSE: HNP; HKEx: 902; SSE: 600011] today announces that its new project of two 300 MW co-generating units at Huaneng Yingkou Cogeneration Power Plant has recently been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Huaneng Yingkou Cogeneration project will construct 2 x 300 MW domestic subcritical co-generating units. The project will concurrently install high- performance electrostatic precipitators, flue-gas desulphurisation and denitrification facilities and flue-gas continuous emission monitoring system. Various emission indices at the power plant will satisfy the environmental protection requirements of the State.

The total investment amount of the project is estimated to be approximately RMB3.32 billion, of which 25% is equity capital to be funded by the Company. The remaining investment will be funded by bank loans.

Huaneng Power International, Inc. has a total generation capacity of 37,593MW on an equity basis and a controlling installed generation capacity of 40,989MW. The Company wholly owns sixteen operating power plants, an operating power company, and has controlling interests in thirteen operating power companies and minority interests in five operating power companies. Currently, it is one of the largest listed power producers in China.
