2nd JoC South America Logiport Conference Set for 14-16 April, 2009, in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Posted on: Friday, 13 February 2009, 13:02 CST

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The second JoC South America Logiport Conference (http://www.joc.com/conferences/SALC/), co-produced by the Journal of Commerce Conferences/UBM Global Trade and CMP/UBM Brazil, will take place 14 to 16 April, 2009, at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This three-day event is held in conjunction with the largest transportation expo in the Western Hemisphere -- the Intermodal South America 2009 Fair, which is organized by CMP/UBM Brazil.

South America's transportation sector has experienced a renaissance in recent years, becoming one of the most viable shipping partners in the world. The Paris-based Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) recently named Brazil as the only major economy that is not expected to suffer a sharp economic downturn this year.

Presentations and roundtable discussions at the South America Logiport Conference will spotlight the issues and challenges facing this resource-rich continent's ocean, land and air transportation sectors. This event will be of particular importance to shippers, carriers, 3PLs and other key supply chain providers with connections or operations in South America.

Conference session topics include:

  • Port productivity
  • Global ocean freight rates
  • Trucking bottlenecks
  • The impact of stalled infrastructure projects
  • Brazil's rail supply chain
  • The future of intra-South American trade
  • Emerging air cargoes
  • Improving air cargo efficiency in South America
  • Impact of the global recession on air cargo
