Chief Executive Officer Jose Mejia to Assume Role of Board Chairman

NEW YORK, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Medis Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: MDTL) (Medis), a leading fuel cell technology specialist, today announced changes to its executive and operational management team. Board Chairman Robert K. Lifton and Deputy Chairman Howard L. Weingrow have retired effective February 16, 2009. The Company’s CEO, Jose Mejia, will assume the role of board chairman. Additionally, Medis has appointed Thomas Finn as executive vice president of operational restructuring.

The company’s products – Medis 24/7 Xtreme Portable Power Solution and the Medis Fuel Cell Power Emergency Kit – are currently available at Amazon.com and the FuelCellStore.com. The portable fuel cells can provide up to 90 hours of “green” energy to power personal electronic devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, flashlights, etc.

Mr. Finn has more than 25 years of international business management experience, particularly in supply chain management. Most recently, Mr. Finn served as an independent consultant, specializing in strategy, planning, development, and sustainability. Prior to that, Mr. Finn served as chief supply chain officer, Asia Pacific and China, as well as vice president, manufacturing and transformation for Alcatel-Lucent.

He also served as vice president of worldwide supply for Solectron Corporation. As a graduate of Texas Instruments’ (TI) Material Management Rotation Program, he served 11 years with TI holding various positions in operations and supply chain management. He began his career as a design engineer and project manager for a privately held architecture/engineering firm. Mr. Finn holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s in finance from the University of Texas at Dallas.
