Suncor Energy announces successful negotiation with local union workforce

DENVER, CO, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Suncor Energy (U.S.A.) Inc. today announced that it has successfully concluded negotiations with its union workforce, securing three years of labor stability for its Commerce City refinery.

"We are very pleased with the successful negotiation with our local union," said John Gallagher, vice president, Refining and Pipelines. "The new three-year contract is the result of a strong collaborative effort between the union and Suncor. We believe we reached an agreement that will meet the long-term goals of both the union and the company."

Last Friday, members of the United Steelworkers (USW) Union Local 12-477 voted in favor of the new collective bargaining agreement.

"The impact of Suncor's new agreement extends far beyond our refinery gates," said Gallagher. "This is a win for the community and Colorado as we continue to meet the region's energy needs."

USW Local 12-477 represents more than 245 employees who work at Suncor's refinery in Commerce City.

Suncor's 93,000-bpd refinery is the only one in Colorado and is a major supplier of Colorado's gasoline and diesel fuel as well as jet fuel to the Denver International Airport. It is also the largest supplier of paving-grade asphalt in Colorado.
