EB Tough VoIP(TM) System Unveiled as a Ruggedized Defense Communications Solution Providing Data and VoIP Services for Global Defense Forces
Posted on: Monday, 23 February 2009, 00:00 CST
As the primary IP voice and data communications solution for any defense application, EB Tough VoIP allows for high levels of security through utilization of data encryption and authentication mechanisms. The EB Tough VoIP solution provides VoIP services independent of network services availability that are commonly required in IP-based voice communications.
Since 2006, EB has been developing the airbase telephony and data services based on IP and VoIP for the Finnish Air Force (FIAF), which will be utilizing the EB Tough VoIP system in their operations later this year. The solution allows for IP-based voice communications for airfield service personnel servicing an aircraft and carrying out other maintenance operations. Both aircraft pilot and service technicians working around the aircraft are provided with their own VoIP and data capability.
"EB Tough VoIP is a revolutionary system that enables all IP communications in even the most challenging of environments," said
EB Tough VoIP offers many features, including:
- An integrated and embedded solution for VoIP and data services, in wired mode, regardless of availability of network services such as SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) or DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol),
- A ruggedized product, requiring no additional protection or housing,
- Extended usage as the whole system can be run on batteries - ensuring high level of certainty in providing the enhanced services to users.
Primarily, EB Tough VoIP is used as a stand-alone system or can be integrated to customers' existing communications infrastructure. The solution provides the user with critical, dependable services without the need of additional network services, such as SIP. Additionally, EB Tough VoIP units themselves can be utilized as network components, such as the EB Tough VoIP Terminal(TM) and the EB Tough VoIP Network Extender(TM). The EB Tough VoIP Terminal can be used with application specific headsets and handsets that are commonly used with tactical radio or digital field telephony equipment. The EB Network Extender is an integrated unit that provides the functionalities of a VoIP terminal, Ethernet switch and multi-channel SHDSL (Single-Pair High-speed Digital Subscriber Line) modem and it can be used to provide broadband wired connectivity, and VoIP services to the field, in LAN or WAN configuration.
